I’m excited to share that I’ve agreed to be a brand ambassador for Potable Aqua, and its parent company, Wisconsin Pharmaceutical. Who is Wisconsin Pharmaceutical? You may be more familiar with their Coleman branded first aid kits, bug repellants, and Sting Eze.
I’m approached by many brands to do reviews or they simply want me to promote their product. I sort through these based on a number of factors:
Would the product interest you, my readers? – This question eliminates many items. Even if I’m interested, I won’t waste the company’s time or money if you wouldn’t be interested. For example, I loooove cute, comfy, street shoes, but they don’t fit within this blog, so I turn them down.
Is it something I need or already use? – Here I can try something I need, or validate my opinion on products I’ve used before and had a positive experience with.
Is the product innovative? – Not every product I test is innovative, but when it is, I’m even more excited to be part of the perfecting process. This is the role I play with Columbia Sportswear. They use the feedback they receive to improve their products, and I enjoy being part of that process.
I only accept an ambassadorship when I really believe in the brand. Such is the case with Potable Aqua and Wisconsin Pharmaceutical. I’ve used water purifying tablets as a back-up for filters as long as I’ve been backpacking….a long time. I also feel they are critical in emergency kits. Why? They are inexpensive, compact, stable, and effective. Beyond personal use, they are an important tool for providing potable drinking water in areas that have none. Again, the features I just mentioned make them shine in this application as well.
With the exception of Sting Eze, which has been a staple in my home for years, I only recently began testing the newest items offered by Wisconsin Pharmaceutical. The items I’m really enjoying are their compact first aid kits and DEET-free bug repellent. On a recent trip to Capital Reef, the repellent drove away an army of gnats and some nasty flies.
